Ranking The Best Landing Spots for Kyle Busch

Updated: Aug 16, 2022

Kyle Busch is the LeBron James of NASCAR. Wherever he goes causes a ripple effect among other drivers. Contract talks at Joe Gibbs have been hampered by the inability to secure a sponsor for 2023 and beyond and Kyle Busch is making 17 million a year and without sponsorship, it is not looking good for Joe Gibbs racing as of now. So are all the possible landing spots ranked?

7- Spire/Rick Ware Racing/Kauling/Front Row/Wood Brothers/RFK

All the above-mentioned teams have zero shot at landing Kyle Busch and he has no interest in joining these teams. Kyle Busch wants to be on a winning team and none of these teams have come close to competing in 2022.

6- Richard Childress Racing

I’ll make it short and sweet, this will not happen. These two have a bad history together and RCR simply doesn’t have the horsepower.

5-Team Penske.

Roger Penske could probably pull this off if he wants but he doesn’t and Kyle Busch doesn’t want to be teammates with Joey Logano, who would? To be fair, Ryan Blaney has underachieved, and putting KB in the 12 would be a good move but it won’t happen.

4. Hendrick Motorsports: If I could pick, I would pick team Hendrick and put him in the 48 over Alex Bowman. This could happen but it’s very unlikely because Rick Hendrick believes in Bowman and the other 3 drivers are championship contenders.

3. Stewart-Hass: I think it’s no secret Busch likes them and they like him but with Aric Amorola coming back and Kevin Harvick having at least one more year in the 4 where do you put him? Chase Briscoe is a playoff driver and Cole Custer has family ties to the team so it doesn’t seem there is room.

2: Staying with JGR. This should probably be the #1 option but I don’t think it’s his best option. It seems there is a discord between Kyle and Joe as seen after Kyle’s second-place finish at Pocono. Ty Gibbs has already proven he belongs in a cup and he is the best fit for the 18. Although as of the update of this article it seems unlikely he stays.

  1. 23XI Racing: Denny Hamlin has already pulled a rabbit out of the hat with the Tyler Reddick news. It’s time to do it again and hire Kyle Busch. Hamlin is one of the smartest owners in the garage and he seems to have the funding and sponsors. Kyle Busch to 23XI could get them a championship quick and 23XI could have the best old-timer still in the sport in Busch and one of the best young guns in Reddick and Wallace. What a team that could be. However, seeing what Ty Gibbs has done in the 45 that could mean he gets the 45 if Kurt Busch Retires and Busch is forced to stay at JGR or go to Stewart-Hass. So many questions remain unanswered and no domino can fall until the Kyle Busch domino falls.
